Pennington County has terminated its contract with Rapid City Public Library. As a result, the following impacts will be felt effective January 1, 2026:

• The library and Bookmobile will close Sundays due to reduced staffing
• Collections, events, and research databases will be eliminated or reduced
• Pennington County residents outside Rapid City city limits will be charged an annual library user fee
• Collaborative agreements with Wall, Hill City, and Keystone libraries will end

• 32% fewer book purchases
• 16% fewer ebook purchases
• Purchase suggestions limited to 12 per year
