The microfilm machine is located in the Local History Room. It can be reserved to view microfilm from the library's collection, which includes Indian Country Today and Lakota Times, as well as microfilm requested through interlibrary loan or brought in by patrons. Use of the machine is subject to the Local History Room Policy.
Roll numbers are required and can be found at the South Dakota Historical Society website. Our library staff can help you find the roll numbers; please call us at (605) 394-6139.

Reserve

Requesting Microfilm
To request microfilm from another library, log in to your library account and submit a new Materials Request. Need help submitting the request? Call us at (605) 394-6139. You will need your library card number.
South Dakota Historical Society Microfilm
The South Dakota Historical Society charges a fee of $10.00 per roll of microfilm. This fee must be paid in advance by credit card (over the phone), or check or money order, made out to South Dakota State Historical Society.

Microfilm from Other Libraries
If the lending library requires a fee, payment must be made in advance by check. Our staff will contact you with the cost and payment details after the materials request is submitted.
