Rapid City Public Libraries get technology update starting August 11

Both locations of the Rapid City Public Library, the downtown library at 610 Quincy Street and the north library at 10 Van Buren Street, will soon undergo a software upgrade to improve the speed, efficiency, and reliability of the library catalog and patron accounts system. This is part of a statewide technology update implemented by the South Dakota Library Network.

Beginning Monday, August 11, some common functions will be unavailable including searching the library catalog; checking a personal library account; placing holds on materials; and requesting interlibrary loans.

The RCPL staff has a number of back-up systems in place to ensure that services and resources will still be available.
If you have questions during this transition, please contact the libraries. Online the libraries can be contacted through chat services available on www.rapidcitylibrary.org, or through email services.

In the libraries people are encouraged to ask at any desk or service point for help from RCPL librarians.
The libraries' services can also be accessed by telephone at 394-4171 (Downtown) or 716-4098 (North).
The projected date for the completion of the software update is August 15th. Please watch the website for further information.
